Horse Tapestry - Beautiful White Horse Smetanka

This tapestry is for anyone who loves horses, one of nature's most wonderful creatures.

This is a tapestry of famous Smetanka, one of progenitors of the Orlov Trotter breed.

Smetanka was a silver-gray Arabian stallion, rather large and long-backed for the breed (an autopsy revealed that he had 19 ribs, i.e., an extra rib), with an extravagant trot. He was acquired at a fabulous price by Russian Count Alexander Orlov from Turkish Pasha in 1774.

Unfortunately, Smetanka died after only one breeding season due to the severe Russian climate. But his son, Polkan, and the Dutch mare (gray in color, unusual for the breed) produced gray Bars, generally regarded as the progenitor of the Orlov Trotter breed. The sons of Bars proved the superiority of this horse.
